MRC Twin Cities Retention & Disability Services
MRC began offering job-retention support to consumers through Certified Extended Employment Services in 1987 and added a full range of support services in 1991.
Extended Employment (EE) assists consumers in retaining employment by providing on-the-job support after short-term job coaching has ended. Servcies are provided throuhg both direct and phone contacts. EE is a free service funded through a contract with the State of Minnesota.
Worksite Support provides assistance with time time management, checklists, written instruction sheets, interpersonal and communication skills, attendance, punctuality, travel and day care issues as well as workstation ergonomics and software training.
Staying On the Job (SOJ) is an hourly service initiated by the employer, employee or referral source. This neutral, third-party coahces on matters related to the Americans with Disabilities Amendment Act (ADAAA) and identifies accomodationa nd employment solutions for the employee and employer. The services is broken down into three areas:
- SOJ Case Management Services assist consumers and their employers in the areas of disability accommodations, changes in medical or disability status, and performance problems and may include: disability disclosure, identification of limitations related to the job the consumer is in, and practical accommodation solutions. MRC will direct meetings to ensure that both the employer and the employee understand their rights and responsibilities.
- SOJ Job Site Analysis and Ergonomic Assessment provides on-site, in-depth assessment of essential job functions and accommodation needs. This is followed by formal written recommendations of practical accommodation solutions.
- ADAA Disability and Basics of Ergonomis Seminar is a 4-hour seminar desinged for consumers with disabilities who want clarification on the ADAAA, disclosure, accommodations, and current laws regarding disabilities and the workplace. Demonstrations will be given of proper ergonomic set up.
- ADAA – Understanding and Managing Employwee with Disabilities in the Workplace Seminar is a 4-hour overview of the ADAAA, effective communication and disability terms, defining chronic and changing disabilities and examples, steps to an effective accommodations process, ways to handle co-worker questions, and accommodation solutions to real life scenarios. This is an employer or agency based group seminar that can accommodate from 10 – 40 people.
