MRC Business Partner Councils

MRC Business Partner Councils consist of individuals from business and industry who know the specific skills required for employment within a variety of career areas and who assist MRC in developing and/or modifying training and education programs and/or in the hiring of its program participants.

Business Partner Councils meet quarterly. Meetings are held at MRC or at a host company. The amount of time members spend working on Business Partner activities varies and depends on individuals and their work and personal schedules. Business Partner participation is a key to the success of MRC clients.

Business Partner Expectations

  • Attend initial orientation prior to attending first Business Partner Council meeting
  • Attend three of the four quarterly Business Partner Council meetings annually
  • Act as the MRC “liaison” or contact point for your company
  • Participate in a minimum of two other activities annually such as facilitating a work readiness training session or on a specific sub-committee
  • Support the MRC “Achieving Dreams” initiative

Business Partner Council Goals

  • To create career opportunities for persons with barriers to employment and consulting on job opportunities and workplace trends
  • To consult with MRC staff on the creation of new training and education programs and to update existing programs to ensure the skills attained are current with work place trends
  • To help consumers build their self-confidence and attain their career goals by assisting MRC in offering comprehensive programs and services that help individuals improve their technical and interpersonal capabilities and skills.
  • To help consumers re-enter the work force and remain employed once there
  • To assist with the placement of individuals into competitive employment
  • To assist MRC in the promotion of its services to the community
  • To provide work readiness training including teambuilding, diversity, phone etiquette, dress for success, conflict resolution, mock interviews, resume development, and corporate visits.
